David McAlister Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Dec. 27, 2023 to Jan. 3, 2024.
On the morning of December 21st, 2023, David Wray McAlister was taken into the ever-green fairways of heaven after a life full of love and laughter.

He was born October 12th, 1945, in Spruce Pine, NC to Earl and Helen McAlister and grew up the youngest of four brothers. He is preceded in death by his brothers Earl and Gary McAlister and survived by his twin brother Dennis McAlister. David would recount more happy memories about growing up with his beloved brothers than could ever be recorded. His best friend in life was the late Butch Pittman of Spruce Pine, NC. They enjoyed golfing, fishing, and many adventures together.

He is survived by his faithful wife of 55 years, Linda McAlister who, in his own words, was "the prettiest girl he had ever seen". He is also survived by his two sons and their wives David & Laura McAlister of Franklin, TN and Mark & Wendy McAlister of Kensington, MD. As well as four grandsons: Jackson, Malachi, Silas, and Canaan.

David loved family history, Christmas traditions, Redskins football, the Memphis Tigers, and Arnold Palmer.

He will be missed by every person to ever have heard his boisterous laugh or looked into his southern sky-blue eyes. To all of whom he would give the order ..."Press On".

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice House of Williamsburg in the name of David McAlister.

I only met your dad once, but I know he was a helluva guy who raised two wonderful men and loved his grandkids and daughters-in-law. I´m so very sorry for your loss.

Linda, David, & Mark
Our deepest condolences for your loss. He was a fine man by any measure who was dedicate to you in every way and raised two great boys in whom I know he was proud. I shared a few rounds of golf with him and David over the years and have the fondest memories of those times. We love you all and will bring praying for you.

My deepest condolences. Any time I was around him, he always made me laugh. I loved listening to him talk about history. A genuinely kind, funny man. He is missed.
