Myrtle Beach's beloved David Lea Mckenzie, age 77, made his heavenly transition on July 16th 2024. David was born in Winston Salem, NC, and was a son to James Leak and Lucy Mae Mckenzie. He later moved to Myrtle Beach, SC, and during his college years married Linda Mckenzie and had two children, Brian and Candace Mckenzie. He is survived by his wife, two children, granddaughter, Evan Lea Mckenzie, and his sister, Martha Leak Nelson.
The Myrtle Beach community knew of David's love for God and his passion for golf. Through his benevolent spirit, David was able to support many charities through his two restaurants, Johnny Rockets, and was an avid member of The First United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach. He had an enormous zest for life, infectious humor, and was described as someone who was larger than life.
For those wanting to honor his legacy, funeral services will be held this Sunday at 3:00pm at the First Methodist Church in MB.
Light refreshments will be served after the service from 3:45 to 4:30. To follow there will be a 4:30 pm Life Celebration Dinner at Villa Romano - Kindly rsvp to Candace Mckenzie at [email protected] and or 310 795 6537.
