David Jay Meek

David Jay Meek, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on September 15, 2025.

Born on August 24, 1957 in Bellaire, Ohio. to the late Wayne and Rosemarie (Andrews) Meek, Jay lived a life defined by hard work, simple joys, and love for his family. In addition to his parents, Jay was preceded in death by his brother, Randy Meek.

Jay built his career first at Sears, then with his own electronics business, and later serving the Village of Shadyside as the Street Commissioner, from which he retired in 2020.

Outside of work, Jay found his greatest happiness in the outdoors. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time at his home. He could often be found in his garage, where he was usually surrounded by family, neighbors, friends, and beloved pets. Those who knew Jay will remember his kindness, his admiration of animals, and a fondness for sports. But, above all else, his heart belonged to his family, who were at the center of his world.

Jay is already deeply missed and forever loved by his wife of 46 years. Toni (Antionette), and his sons, Jesse and Derek Meek, his daughter-in-law Ashley Shipley, his siblings Rick (Stephanie Elias-Meek) Meek; Suzanne (Rich) Williams; his nieces and nephews Joshua (Jaime) Meek, Alexander (anna) Williams, Lucas (Breaunna) Williams, Makalah Williams, and Marissa Williams.

The family will honor Jay in a way he could be proud of, at the place he loved most in this world, his home. A celebration of life will be held on September 27, 2025 starting at 2pm at 54554 Cash Ridge Rd., Shadyside, OH. All who cared for Jay are welcome to join in sharing their memories as we say goodbye.
