David Ricky Melvin, a cherished member of his community, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on January 27, 1949, David dedicated 35 years of his career to Essex Wire, where he was respected by his colleagues and known for his strong work ethic.
David's personality was as vibrant as his interests. He was an avid deer hunter and held a deep passion for camping, which allowed him to connect with nature and his loved ones. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him recall his infectious smile and the hearty laughter that accompanied his well-timed jokes. David loved to bring joy to others, embodying this spirit through his role as Santa Claus during the holiday season, where he delighted children at church, daycares, and family gatherings, even posing for his driver's license photo in a Santa suit.
David took great pride in his faith, being a devoted member of Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene. He was also an active participant in the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, contributing to causes close to his heart. His commitment to family and community was unwavering, and he often found joy in making others smile.
David is survived by his loving daughter, Tuesdee Melvin Quinton; his brother, Jerry (Patty) Melvin; his sister, Candy (Matt) Malone; his grandson, Luke David (Laura) Quinton; and his beloved great granddaughter, Abigail Rose Melton, with whom he cherished spending special moments.
Those who have passed before him include his devoted wife, Debara Sue Melvin; his father, James Mack Melvin; and his mother, Pearl Mae Melvin. David's legacy of love, laughter, and compassion will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
