David Lee Mendenhall, age 80, of Martinsville, IL passed away at 7:23 a.m. on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN. He was born September 5, 1944 in Robinson, IL, the son of Purl Silver Mendenhall and Edna Marie (VanWinkle) Mendenhall.
On September 9, 1962 he married Laurel L. Birch. They were blessed with two children, Daryn and Davey. Laurel passed away on March 1, 1996. David later married Fairy Carmeleta DeMoss on September 21, 1996; she passed away on January 4, 2025.
Survivors include his son, Daryn Mendenhall (Michael Malone) of Evansville, IN; daughter, Davey Wright of Robinson, IL; grandchildren, Christa Hoffman and Dustin Hoffman; great grandchildren, Dylan Sumner, Zoey Sumner, Mason Napier, Leland Hoffman, Xavier Hoffman and Isabella Hoffman; brothers, Donald Mendenhall (Cynthia), Douglas Mendenhall (Jody) and Dale Mendenhall, all of Robinson, IL; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wives, Laurel and Fairy and brother, Darrel Mendenhall.
David attended Robinson High School. He retired after forty years from Marathon Pipeline as a corrosion technician. He had also worked as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver for Marathon. He later worked for Blackhawk in Casey, IL. In his younger years David enjoyed woodworking and in later years he enjoyed dining out.
Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Ridgelawn Cemetery, Martinsville, IL.
