David Ray Moats, 62, of Terra Alta, WV passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
He was born July 7, 1962, in Kingwood, WV, a son of Bertie G. Trembly of Terra Alta, WV and the late Ray Moats.
David was a beloved father, son and brother. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. David was a member of VFW #578. In his younger days he enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting pool. David understood that value of hard work. For several years he worked in the fields of construction and maintenance. His last position was held as a laborer at Alpine Lake Resort.
In addition to his mother, David is survived by one brother, Dale Moats and wife, Gloria; one sister, Bonnie Loughrie and Todd Deahl; niece, Julie Loughrie; nephew, D.J. Loughrie; stepbrother, John Trembly and wife, Josie and stepsister, Gina Horne.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his two sons, David Ray Moats Jr. and Stephen Virts; brother, Tony Moats; nephew, John Trembly Jr. and stepfather, Charles Trembly.
Friends may call at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, from 11 am until the 12 pm time of service with Pastor Larry Anderson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Honor Guard. Interment will follow at the Aurora Cemetery.
