David Moravec

David Moravec, Sergeant Major Army (Ret.), 85, of Elkland Road, Warwick, passed away with his loving family by his side on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of 64 years to Eleanor L. (DiPanni) Moravec.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward and Marie (Michalek) Moravec.

David graduated from East Providence High School, Class of 1957, where he was a Track star, All-State sprinter and played Varsity Football. He was a youth soccer coach and in the 1970's, he was a manager of the Continental Little League Minor, Major and All-Star teams.

David was Full Time Manning, RI Army National Guard. This included 20 years of Federal Civil Service, 20 years of Active Duty, AGR, Cold War and Gulf War veteran, retiring in 2000. He received the US Army Legion of Merit and Rhode Island Star. He was Past Commander, Post 1 American Legion in Providence.

Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Clifford Moravec of Warwick; two brothers, Robert Moravec of East Providence and Richard Morevec and his late wife Saldedra of West Warwick. He was the father of the late Bradford Moravec.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. in the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in Saints Rose and Clement Church, 111 Long Street, Warwick, RI. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's name to the Potter League for Animals, 87 Oliphant Lane, Middletown, RI, 02842 would be appreciated.
