David J. Morgia, 84, of Largo, Florida, and Oswego, passed away in Florida on June 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. David was born in Oswego in 1941 to parents Joseph and Mildred (Dempsey) Morgia. He graduated from Oswego High School and worked for Niagara Mohawk for 33 years. David was very involved in the Oswego community and volunteered for many organizations. He was the IBEW Union's treasurer and a long-time member of the Elks and the American Legion. He was an avid baseball fan both locally and for the majors. He volunteered countless hours for Oswego Little League as a coach and umpire and was a dedicated lifelong fan of the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers. He enjoyed wintering in Largo, Florida, where he and his wife made many friendships and memories for over 25 years. He also played and managed the shuffleboard team in his retirement park. David was a family man, a loving husband, and a caring father and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and was affectionately called "Pop" by his grandchildren. David is survived by his children Mary Beth Morgia of Florida, David J. (Elizabeth) Morgia Jr. of Oswego, and Amy (Matthew) Fiorentino of Manlius, grandchildren Emily (Sarah Birnie) Beckwith, Matthew (Julie) Beckwith, David J. (Kayla) Morgia, Dylan Morgia, Derek Morgia, Drake Morgia, Isabella Fiorentino, Matthew Fiorentino, and Lila Fiorentino, and his sister Joann Daken. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Barbara A. (Familo) Morgia, in 2017. Family and friends are invited to call on July 16, 2025, from 3-6 pm. A Catholic Mass will be held at 10 am on July 17, 2025, followed by Burial in St. Peter Cemetery. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of Nelson Funeral Home.
