David Peter Morton, resident of Newtonville, MA, passed away on May 30, 2024, at the age of 70, surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Born on December 2, 1953, Dave’s journey began on the charming island of Nantucket before moving to Weston, MA, where he grew up and graduated from Weston High School in 1971.

Dave's academic pursuits led him to Keystone College in Pennsylvania and then to Virginia Tech, where he earned his degree in architecture, and was active in the Tau Delta fraternity.  His professional journey started in Boston with an architecture firm, but his entrepreneurial spirit soon guided him to establish his own business, Edinboro Builders, where he continued to create and innovate throughout his career.

Dave's life was a rich tapestry of hobbies and interests. He was an active member of the BWM Car Club and served on the Newtonville Historical Commission, preserving the town's rich heritage. His passion for bonsai brought him peace and joy, and he rekindled his childhood love for model building, becoming a key member of the USS Constitution Model Shipwright Guild. Dave held esteemed roles within the guild, from First Mate to Vice Admiral, and ultimately as the editor of its monthly magazine, sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow enthusiasts.

Known for his excellent wit and great sense of humor, Dave had a unique ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him. He was a beloved son to his predeceased parents, Joanne (Shea) Morton and Peter Morton, and brother William (Bill) Morton. His legacy lives on through his son, Benjamin Morton, and his sister, Elizabeth (Morton) Sauro, and her husband, Michael.

Dave also leaves behind his three nieces, Lauren Lamoly and her wife Jessica, Sarah Figurido, and Chelsie Fee and her husband Joshua, as well as his great niece and nephew, Emerson Figurido and Jules Lamoly-Cusick. His memory will be fondly remembered by many friends and colleagues who had the privilege of knowing him over his 70 years.

Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Dave's life on Friday, June 28th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20) Waltham. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at Linwood Cemetery in Weston.
