David Nicewicz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel - Grand Ledge on Dec. 13, 2025.
David Bruce Nicewicz, aged 73, passed away surrounded by love on December 12, 2025, in Grand Ledge, MI. Born on November 28, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan, David's life was one marked by dedication, adventure, and a profound affection for his family and friends.
Survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Debbie, David's legacy continues through their children, John (Cheryl) Nicewicz, and Jennifer (Jason) Mosher. He was a cherished grandfather to Connor, Nevaeh, Xavier, Kodey, and Kase, who will carry forward his love of life and nature. David is also remembered by his siblings Joan (David) Whitmer, Mary Sandlin, and Ann Nicewicz, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Sally Nicewicz.
A proud alumnus of Michigan State University, David's Spartan spirit never waned throughout his life. He channeled his passion for safety and well-being into his career as the Regional Safety Manager at ADM in Grand Ledge, where his work impacted many lives in positive ways.
His passions were as expansive as the great outdoors he loved so much. An avid camper, hiker, and swimmer, David found solace and joy in nature. Family trips to Ludington were among his most treasured moments as he imparted his love of the outdoors to his grandchildren. A true MSU Spartan fan, he was a familiar face at many hockey games, proudly holding season tickets and cheering on his team.
David's adventures with his wife, Debbie, led him to explore the far reaches of the continent. His photographic journeys to Alaska to capture the majesty of bears and to Maine to photograph Moose revealed not only his artistic eye but also his desire to preserve the beauty of the natural world.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel. There will be a time of sharing beginning at 6:30 pm, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 19, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W Willow Hwy, Lansing, MI 48917 with visitation the hour prior. David will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to St Vincent Catholic Charities, in loving memory of David Nicewicz.
