Greg Merrill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel - Grand Ledge on Dec. 13, 2025.
Royce Gregory Merrill, who went by Greg, passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 68. Born on December 27, 1956, in Larium, MI, the son of Royce "Hal" and Lenore (Bennett) Merrill.
Greg is survived by his father, Royce "Hal" Merrill, siblings, Laura (Todd) Meyer and Jeff (Nancy) Merrill, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Lenore, and brother, Mike Merrill.
Greg graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1975. After high school, he traveled to Colorado to attend a diesel and automotive trade school. After a few years, he returned to Michigan. He primarily worked as an auto mechanic, sometimes working in specialized areas, always trying to make his customers happy.
Greg had many hobbies. He grew up riding snowmobiles and motorcycles, only interrupted when he pushed the limits of the machines or himself. His work fixing cars began early as he went through a lot of them. He could do wheelies for a mile. He loved spending time at the family cabin in northern Michigan and helping his brother Jeff in the woods, clearing trails and cutting firewood. He and Jeff spent a lot of time bicycling, and he enjoyed fixing up old bicycles to use. His most recent hobby was remote control cars and drones but even those couldn't escape his need to go fast and test the limits. And his cats brought him much companionship and joy.
With that being said, Greg's most relevant legacy is his belief in Christ our Lord. Throughout his life, he enjoyed sharing his unwavering faith with others through his smile cards.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at the Mills Funeral Home, Peters & Murray Chapel, Grand Ledge. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Capital Area Humane Society, in memory of Greg Merrill.
