JONESBORO - David Lamar Oakes was a devoted family man, a loyal friend, and a faithful servant of God. He lived a life rooted in love for his family, his friends, and the simple, meaningful joys that filled his days.
David found peace and purpose in farming and working the land with patience and gratitude. He also loved music and could often be found playing the guitar, using song as a way to share joy and express his faith. Whether through music, hard work, or a quiet moment of encouragement, David had a rare gift for connecting with people.
He is leaving behind a host of friends and family. David never met a stranger, and everyone who crossed his path walked away feeling loved, seen, and valued.
His faith guided every part of his life. David lived for God, and his life reflected the hope, kindness, and grace he believed in so deeply.
David is survived by his loving wife, Mary Oakes; his sons, Chris Oakes (Jamie) and Jeremy Oakes (Buffi); and his daughter, Tera Carrizales (Joe). He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom were a great source of pride and joy in his life.
David Lamar Oakes will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his faith, his love, and the legacy he leaves behind.
