David Curtis Oestrick, age 71 of Horseshoe Bay, Texas passed from his time here on Earth in the evening on Saturday, June 15th, 2024, at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple. He was born to parents Lela Marie (Miller) and Jack Joe Oestrick, Jr in Austin on July 24th, 1952.
He grew up in Bee Cave Austin where he attended and eventually graduated from Austin High School. David joined the Us Army in 1971 and proudly served his country from 1971 to 1973. David was a Vietnam Era Veteran and was also stationed in Germany where he continued to serve and protect our country. He met the love of his life Deeann Bailey and they were married on March 28th, 1969 in Georgetown, Texas, she proudly stood by his side throughout his military service.
After being honorably discharged they started their life together in the civilian sector, he worked for the Government and the IRS Agency for over 20 years before his retirement in 2009. David was an active member of the American Legion. They were affiliated with the Park Hills Baptist Church and were devoted members of the church family while there. After retiring they decided to move to Horseshoe Bay, Texas. David was very handy in all endeavors; he built the home that they settled in making it the perfect place to live out the dreams they planned after retiring. David and Deeann were able to make many trips to the coast to enjoy life putting their feet in the sand.
David and Deeann were parents to a son, Brian and a daughter, Kari. They loved to go fishing at the coast, collecting rocks and fossils, and had a passion for riding Harley-Davidson Motorcycles. They were proud parents and happy grandparents who loved spending time with their growing family. It was a wonderful time at their home of 24 years in Horseshoe Bay and building upon the memories that will be remembered and cherished by all who knew of his love of life.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind his loving wife Deeann of 55 years of Horseshoe Bay, his son, Brian Oestrick of Horseshoe Bay, daughter, Kari Leiva of Leander, and a brother, Jackie Oestrick of Jarrell. David was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Callie, Ayden, and Alexander Leiva also Auston and Lela Oestrick. He will be missed by all his family and the people who had the privilege to serve or work with him but most of all the memories made with his family will always live on in the hearts and minds of all forever.
The services for David will be held at their residence in Horseshoe Bay with the visitation on Saturday, June 22,2024 starting from 11:30 to 1:00 and a prayer service held in between at 12:00 pm. He will be interred at the Allen-McNeill Cemetery.
