David J. Oppliger, 80, of Arnold, MO, formerly of St. Louis, MO, died November 15, 2022, at Mercy Hospital South, surrounded by members of his loving family.
He was born July 2, 1942, in St. Louis, MO. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tonia Oppliger (nee Gibson), children Kelly (Patrick) Roy and Shawn Oppliger, stepchildren Rebecca Kelly, Rob (Elizabeth) Breidecker and Jim (Monica) Breidecker; grandchildren Danielle, Josh, Katie, Simeon, Matthew, Sebastian K., Joe, Emma, Tyler, Falon, Evan and Sydney; and great-grandchildren Sebastian R., Audrey, Kyson and Jestin; brother Don (Donna) Oppliger and sister Dr. Marty "Mutsy" (Jim) Harris; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents Oliver and Jane (nee Turek) Oppliger
and sister Judy Dreher.
David graduated from Cleveland High School. He had many jobs, most notably working for the family business Jacoby Stained Art Glass Studio, an important part of his family name, and driving a truck for Middendorf Meat Company. He loved cars, woodworking, model trains, NASCAR and his family. He enjoyed their many cats through the years, especially their current companion, Baby Blue.
Visitation 11 AM Monday, November 21, 2022 at Cypress Pointe Cremation, 4455 Telegraph Rd., Suite 110, St. Louis, MO, 63129. A memorial service will follow at 12 noon.
