David Michael Osman, 64, of Chicago's Dunning neighborhood, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2024, at Elevate Care Chicago North.
Born in Chicago and raised in Humboldt Park, David was a Boy Scout and altar boy. He graduated from Lane Tech High School, took engineering classes at Triton College, and was truly a jack-of-all-trades: owner of a small painting company, draftsman, design engineer, piano mover, appliance repairman, pizza delivery man, and personal driver. He was affectionately known as "Mr. Harley", "Harley Dave", and like so many of the other men in his family, "Oz".
Dave enjoyed a good debate. He was intelligent and capable of deep thought but could also be stubborn. He cared about the news, science, and nature and enjoyed camping, telling dirty jokes, and riding his 1971 Harley Electra Glide in the Toys for Tots parade. He drank Stroh's and Jack Daniels earlier in life and Icehouse beer in later days.
Beloved partner of 31 years to Eileen Eunice "Leener" Pape, father of David Alexander ("Oz" and "Alex") (Miranda) Osman of Wisconsin, and "Grandpops" of infant granddaughter Mirabelle Genevieve Osman.
Son of Kenneth Leon (Rose) Osman and Pauline Ann Osman (nee Signorelli); brother of Kenneth Leon (the late Chris), Denise, Paula, and Phil "Oz" (partner Jessica) Osman; uncle of Kaitlyn, Kacee, Michael, Jenny, Adam, Rob, Ed, Angie, Sammy, Santino "Nino", Alicia, and Anthony; dear friend of John Visk.
In a sort of living wake,.friends and family have paid visits to Dave over the past three months. Thus, the family has selected private cremation with no further services.
