It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Lawrence Owen, beloved husband to the late Dorcas M. Owen whom we lost in 2017. David peacefully passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born on May 24, 1933 in Medfield, Massachusetts where he spent most of his life until they moved to New Pond Village in 2018.
After graduating from Medfield High School, David joined the Navy. During his four years with the Navy, David visited 33 countries. After he completed his work with the Navy, David attended. night school for eight years at Northeastern University where he obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. To support himself through college, David worked for a hardware company in Brookline. After he completed his degree, he went on to work for Dennison in Framingham and was eventually promoted to the Corporate Credit Manager.
David met his wife, Bubbles (a beloved nickname) during his junior year at Medfield High School and they were married for 64 years. They have four children together; three daughters and one son, ten grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Lucky enough to retire at age 55, David and his wife Bubbles spent 21 seasons living in their Cape Cod home during the summer and their Florida home in Naples during the winter. David is an enthusiastic wine connoisseur and enjoys reading.
David is survived by his children: Wendy Palumbo and her husband Rick of Medfield, Sandra Suit and her husband Rich of CA, David Owen and his wife Annette of Andover and Sharon Owen and her partner Thomas Higbee of Sutton, his grandchildren: Rachael, Vincent, Samantha, Lindsey, Danielle, Morgan, Abigail, William, and Kate, a great grandchild Vivian, and his sisters Beverly Brown of N. Attleboro and Marjorie Smith and her husband Tom of NC. Sadly, Dave was predeceased by his brother Robert Owen and his grandson Garrett.
A memorial service will be celebrated at Roberts Mitchell Caruso Funeral Home, 15 Miller Street, Medfield, MA 02052 on Thursday, February 27th at 11:00 AM followed immediately by burial at Vine Lake cemetery, Medfield. Visiting hours will be the evening before, Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
