Kraig Magnussen of Millis Massachusetts passed away peacefully on July 13, 2025. He was 77 years old.
Born on July 29, 1947, in Boston, MA, Kraig was raised in Hyde Park before his family settled in Medfield. After marrying, he and his wife moved to Millis, MA where they would go on to live full lives, devoted to each other, and rooted in family, hard work and laughter.
A proud graduate of Medfield High School, Kraig was co-captain of the undefeated/untied 1964 Medfield Warriors football team-a point of pride he carried with him for life. After High School, Kraig answered the call to serve his country. He spent 4 years in the United States Air Force, stationed at Patrick Air Force Base in Florida. It was there he met the love of his life, Faye Schlueder. The two were married in 1970 and built a life together grounded in love.
Kraig studied carpentry at Wentworth Institute of Technology and went on to work with William Keller Construction for over 2 decades. Eventually, he launched his own business, Magnussen Construction, where he spent another 20+ years building a reputation as a skilled, honest craftsman. His pride in his work was only matched by his pride in his family.
Deeply proud of his Norwegian heritage, Kraig was the life of the party and the heart of his large, close-knit family. With a big laugh, and big heart, and a bottomless repertoire of jokes and magic tricks, Kraig brought joy to everyone around him. He never missed a game, a school event, or a chance to cheer on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; he was their biggest fan and greatest supporter.
Kraig is survived by his beloved wife, Faye Magnussen; their three children: Phil Magnussen and his wife Becky Pasmore, Amy Smith and her husband Dan, Kevin Magnussen and his wife Nicole; his 7 grandchildren: Phil Magnussen, Kathryn Blades, Mandy Pasmore, Tim and Fin Smith, and Bella and Sofia Dean. He also leaves behind his cherished siblings: Karl Magnussen and wife Yvonne, Karen Sessa, and Kris Magnussen; and his sister in-law Laurie Magnussen. Kraig was also a proud great grandfather of 4 and uncle to many nephews and nieces. He was sadly preceded in death by his brother Kirk Magnussen, and his sister in-law Doris Magnussen.
Whether cheering on grandkids at sporting events, catching a NASCAR race, or fixing something with his hands, Kraig found joy in the little things. He was always there with a quick-witted joke and a signature "F-J" when the moment called for it-just enough frustration, but always with a smile. His legacy is one of generosity, laughter, dedication, and deep love.
He will be deeply missed, but lived a life filled with love and laughter, leaving behind a legacy of many generations.
A Celebration of Kraig's Life is being planned for a future date.
