David Packer, 63, of Bellefonte, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, August 2, 2025. Born on February 22, 1962, in Lock Haven, he was the son of the late Jerry K. and Patricia A. (Pletcher) Packer.
David was a 1980 graduate of Bald Eagle Area High School, where he was a standout member of the wrestling team. Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He served with pride and unwavering dedication and never missed a chance to express gratitude to fellow veterans for their service.
A skilled mason, David worked for several local contractors over the years and took great pride in his craft.
David had three great loves in life: his loyal dog, Prince; the United States Marine Corps; and the Dallas Cowboys. Prince was his constant companion, often seen walking beside David through Bellefonte or sitting peacefully in Talleyrand Park, watching the ducks together. His devotion to the Marines ran deep, and his support for the Cowboys was unmatched-he was a faithful fan through every season, always believing in their greatness.
In his younger years, David enjoyed camping and hunting with his father on Beech Creek Mountain. Some of his fondest memories were of quiet, snowy mornings in the woods, waiting for the perfect buck to appear.
David will be missed deeply by his family and friends and will be forever remembered as the energetic and always polite boy who could do anything if he put his mind to it. He was so full of promise and ready on the world. He was always wanting to help those in need in any way he could and always had a smile.
David is survived by his daughter, Brittney; his sisters, Lisa M. Fultz of Zion and Kimberly K. Mansaray of Washington, DC; and several beloved grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Packer, and his brother-in-law, Matt Fultz.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Daughenbaugh Funeral Home in Milesburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bellefonte Food Bank at the Faith Center, 135 S. Allegheny St., Bellefonte, PA 16823.
David's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported him throughout his life. They ask that in his memory, if you or someone you love is struggling with addiction, please encourage them to seek help through a reputable rehabilitation center and counseling services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Daughenbaugh Funeral Home, Inc. in Milesburg. Online condolences can be shared at www.daughenbaughfuneralhome.com.
