David Palmer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wasik Funeral Home - Gendernalik Chapel - New Baltimore on Oct. 17, 2024.
David was born on March 30, 1943 in Detroit, Michigan to loving parents Jay and Marian Palmer. He graduated from Lutheran High School East in 1961 and from Michigan State University in 1965. His education continued, earning his Master of Science degree in Medical Technology from Wayne State University.
David's career as a clinical laboratory scientist with the City of Detroit exceeded thirty-five years. He held multiple leadership roles during his tenure and also taught at Wayne State University. He was known for exceptional adeptness at calibrating and maintaining laboratory machinery and could pretty much fix anything at home, as well!
Anyone who knew Dave Knows of his artistry for storytelling. Formerly called "big fish stories", the family teased him and agreed that his escapades should be catalogued and entitled, "The older I get, the better I was".
Dave loved his family and was exceptionally devoted to his own parents in their later years. He had a soft spot for dogs and children. He loved fishing, hunting, horseshoes, cruising, gardening, any and all gatherings with friends and family and above all-anything Michigan State!
David was predeceased by his parents, Jay and Marian Palmer. His is survived by his life partner, Nina Nikitenko, his children, Kimberly (Robert) Klausner, David (Juliette) Palmer, and Steven Palmer, five beloved grandchildren, Benjamin Klausner, Sara Klausner, Elizabeth Palmer, Adeline Palmer and Danielle Scalf, his brother, Robert Palmer (Betty), his nephews, Todd and Rob Palmer, dear friend and mother of his children Paula Sinn and many loved cousins.
All are invited to join his family in celebrating his life. Visitation for David will be from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the Wasik Funeral Home located at 35259 23 Mile Road in New Baltimore.

Aunt Betty and Uncle Bobs house on the hill when Uncle Bob used to dress up as Santa, the whole Fam was still present then, the Palmers, Papa and Gram, Jeffy. And Dave he was a character hell of a good guy he used to always make a point to talk to us "Florida boys" and see what we´d been getting into down south hopefully not trouble. And yes he had great stories...How I yearn for those days.. There wasn´t too many things that were more fun than Aunt Betty`s on Christmas Eve with the whole family and I mean the whole family. So sorry for the loss my condolences truly are heartfelt. there´s nothing like a brother.

My memories of David was our Christmas eve get together at Betty and Bobs house. All our familes and our kids. He was such a jokester. Always had a smile. Such a very polite and wonderful person to know. Mrs.Palmer use to tell us the stories those two brothers would get in to.
