David Paulick Obituary

David Lawrence Paulick, 78, of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, passed away on 1/17/2026 after years of battling Parkinson's disease.

David was born on 8/11/1947 to parents Joe and Florence Paulick in Oshkosh, Wisconsin at Mercy Medical Center. After David graduated from Lourdes Academy in 1965, he went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam War. His service was a defining part of his life. He carried patriotism and love for his country with quiet strength and deep pride. One of his most meaningful experiences was participating in the Honor Flight at EAA in 2016. He proudly joined fellow veterans in visiting the memorials built to honor their sacrifice and service. He finally got the welcome home he, and so many others deserved, and it was something he cherished. He continued his commitment to fellow servicemen and women as a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association and was also a member of the Fox Valley Vietnam Veterans Association.

After serving in the war, he began his 40-year career at the Oshkosh Post Office where he proudly served the community and met every citizen at the front counter with a smile. He was a hard worker, a devoted father to his 3 children, and eventually a devoted grandfather to his 4 grandsons. David was a lifelong outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He enjoyed many years at Streich Point sitting in a duck blind alongside his son and close friends. When he wasn't hunting or busy at events supporting his kids and grandkids, he enjoyed being active. His love for an active lifestyle led him to complete many marathons and races. Out of all the races he attended, the Grandma's Marathon in Duluth was his favorite. When running was no longer feasible, he took up biking. He brought passion and purpose to everything he pursued, which led him to complete the 89-mile Race Around the Lake bike race.

Whether outdoors or at home he lived life on his own terms and brought joy to every life he touched. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

He is survived by his children Joe Paulick, Kevin (Amy) Paulick, and Megan (Dylan) Jacobson; four grandsons, Brant and Evan Paulick and Dawson and Hudson Jacobson; two brothers, Mike (Lori) Spanbauer and Tom Spanbauer; and numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, and two brothers.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday January 23rd, 3-8 pm at Retros Pub in Oshkosh. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Oshkosh Chapter of the Disabled American Veterans Association, an organization that David felt strongly about.

We would like to extend a thank you to all the staff at Parkview Health Center who took excellent care of David over the last 6 months.
