David Allen Penrod, age 60, of Bluffton, SC died after a sudden and unexpected battle with cancer on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Dave passed away peacefully, embraced within the loving arms of his wife Jane and daughter Darian. He was born on July 25, 1962, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Dave was a strong, courageous, honorable, and loving husband, friend, father of four, and grandfather of three. He was a sales manager at Hilton Head Honda, and a decorated Sergeant in the United States Army.
Dave married his wife Jane in 2008 and together they raised their children. Dave was an extraordinarily generous, devoted, and a loving man who impacted countless lives of the people who were fortunate enough to have met him. Dave is survived by his wife Jane Herron, children: Rachaelle Penrod, Max Penrod, Jarod Herron, Darian Herron, parents: James Penrod, Betty McLaughlin, brothers: Don Penrod, Doug Penrod (Karen), sister: Diana Zetts (Gary), grandchildren: Kiley Penrod, Myah Penrod, Maylin Penrod and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at SAUL’S FUNERAL HOME, located at 90 Simmonsville Road, Bluffton, SC 29910. The viewing will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, 2023. Another viewing will take place from 12:00 - 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the EICHHOLTZ DARING & SANFORD FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 321 N Main Street, Bellefontaine, Ohio 43311. Pastor Gary Nelson will officiate a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Augst 2, 2023, at the EICHHOLTZ DARING & SANFORD FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER. Following the service David will be buried next to his grandparents, at Huntsville Cemetery, McArthur Township, 3691 Country Road 37, Huntsville, Ohio 43324. If you cannot make it to either service, then just grab a drink and toast it to Dave’s iconic catchphrase - “Oh, boy!”
