David D. Prey

David D. Prey, age 73 of Clintonville, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023. Dave was born on February 17, 1950 to the late Donald and Darlene (Fischer) Prey. He graduated from Shawano High School with the class of 1968. While in high school, he participated in NHS and the FFA Letterman's Club. On August 30, 1975, Dave married Christine Jarvey at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. He worked various jobs in the fire equipment industry before returning to work the family farm in the mid 1980's with his brother. After his father's passing in 1990, Dave took over his father's insurance business in 1991. He retired in 2019. Dave greatly enjoyed the outdoors and loved hunting and fishing, especially trout. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was active with Legion and Babe Ruth baseball when his children were young. Dave was active in the community serving on the board of directors for Shawano Rural Fire Department, Navarino Nature Center, and Young Beef Producers. He was also active professionally on the board of directors for 1st Auto and Pella Mutual Insurance. Dave was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church in Belle Plaine.
Dave is survived by his wife, Christine; 2 sons, Nicholas (Deanna Krohn) and Michael (Erin Schultz); 5 grandchildren, Maddin and Saylor Prey, Justin Wiederholt, Marissa (Nathan) Morris, and Ty Schuebel; 2 great-grandchildren, Asher and Evan Morris; brother, Dennis Prey. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A private graveside service will be held at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Shawano. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
