Joseph "David" Pritchett, 84, was born on April 16, 1941, in Fort Payne, Alabama, to Lawrence Eli Pritchett and Annie Mae Blanks Pritchett. He passed on to his heavenly home in the early morning hours of January 4, 2026. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deanna Pritchett, his parents, as well as many siblings; sisters Daisy Cole, Betty Goza, Nellie Nail, Mary Ruth Reese, Annie Lou Williams, Jewel Gilbreath, and Gladis Pritchett and his brothers Curtis Pritchett, Edward Pritchett, and Herman Pritchett.

David is survived by his son, Ted (Susan) Pritchett, and daughter, Jan (Curtis) Fowler. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Mindy (Joel) Constance, Amy (Andy) Presnell, and Katie (Trey) Evans, and his grandson, Tyler Pritchett, as well as several great-grandchildren.

He was employed for many years as a welder at Combustion Engineering. David also served in the Tennessee National Guard.

He loved to play golf, but more than anything, David will be remembered for the way he lived and loved. He believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and his faith was evident not only in words, but in action. He loved people well, especially those who needed someone in their corner. David was never one to look the other way when someone was being mistreated; he stood up for others with courage, kindness, and conviction.

Those who knew him remember his positive attitude, joyful spirit, and his funny storytelling. He had a way of bringing light and laughter into ordinary moments, and his life left an imprint of faithfulness, integrity, and compassion on everyone he encountered.

David Pritchett's legacy lives on through his family, his faith, and the countless lives touched by his goodness. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 3:00 – 6:00 PM in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory
