BARRE - We are deeply saddened to announce the passing Of David Paul "Sam" Puffer of Barre, VT. Sam died peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the age of 60 surrounded by his family.
Sam is survived by his wife of 22 years Maria Trombley Puffer; his mother Janet Benzie Puffer; his daughters Erika and Jasmine Boyce and Cassie Wood; his grandchildren Parker and Finley; his brother Nathan and wife Merry; his brother Matthew and wife Tracy; and his five nieces and nephews and two great nieces. Sam is predeceased by his father Harold Puffer, his brother Mark Puffer and his grandparents.
Sam graduated from Blue Mountain Union School in Wells River, VT where he excelled as an athlete. After graduation, Sam apprenticed as a stone mason and used his skills to create beautiful stone outdoor living spaces. In 2001, Sam moved to Mount Pleasant, SC, with his wife Maria, where they had a successful masonry company. He enjoyed playing music with his friends and played lots of cornhole games and tournaments. In 2015, Sam and Maria returned to Vermont to be closer to family. Sam enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on a regular basis. Sam was an outstanding poet and loved sharing his poetry with his loved ones, friends, and anyone else he could touch with his words. Sam will be missed so much by both his family, friends, and anyone he touched throughout his life.
Callings hours will be held on November 17, 2023, from 5pm-7pm at Pruneau-Polli Funeral Home. Extra parking is available at St. Monica Church.
The funeral service will be held at Groton United Methodist Church in Groton Vt on November 18, 2023, at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow to Groton Village Cemetery.
