David Renault Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Fausett Family Funeral Homes-Manistique on Dec. 11, 2024.
David Edward Renault, age 72, of Manistique Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2024. He was born on December 5, 1952, in Alton, Illinois, to the late Donald Renault and Patricia Sutton Renault. He is a graduate of Charlotte High School's Class of 1971. On October 4, 1972, he married the love of his life and best friend, Kay Moore.
David and Kay moved from Charlotte, Michigan to Mansfield, Massachusetts in 1974 to continue working for Owen Illinois. He made lots of great friends, explored New England, cheered for the Boston sports teams, and became a great downhill skier. David changed careers and had a distinguished 36-year run as a field service engineer in the powerplant industry, where he traveled worldwide for his work. He enjoyed the hands-on job, visiting new countries, learning about different cultures, and eating lots of good food, but coming home to his loving wife, daughter, and pets was what he looked forward to most.
Since 1969, he has enjoyed vacationing on the family property in Thompson, Michigan. Every summer, he would drive up north to work on projects to improve the land, relax by a big bonfire, and share stories with his family and friends. In the fall, David enjoyed duck hunting with his dad, high school buddies, and former coworkers. In 2016, David retired with his wife to live his dream of homesteading off grid on the family property. He spent his days operating his excavator, riding side-by-sides, snowmobiling, plowing snow, reading, tinkering, and spending time with his beloved pets. He had a deep appreciation for music and loved time making mix tapes then CDs for the people he loved. The past four years he traveled to Maine often to visit his daughter, son in law, and his two grandchildren.
David is survived by his wife, Kay Renault, his daughter Tracy (Adam) Sitarski of Bristol, ME, his adored grandchildren Sage and Hudson Sitarski of Bristol, ME, his brother, Rodger Renault of Alton, IL, and his nephew, Josh Moore of Hastings, MI.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Patricia, his in-laws, Barb and Bill Moore, and his brother-in-law, Steve Moore.
The family has chosen not to hold any formal visitation or memorial services at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Eva Burrell Animal Shelter in David's memory.
Fausett Family Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.

I went to school with Kay. She was the nicest person I'd ever met. I know, absolutely, she will miss her dear husband and the wonderful life they experienced together. I am praying for her and her family, especially David whose name will be entered in the Book of the Dead at St. Gregory the Great in Lansing. Death is not the end, especially when we strive to live in the goodness and Grace of our Dear Lord - it is only the beginning.
