David Shane Rice, 66, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at his home.
He was born November 18, 1958, in Monticello, Kentucky to the late David "Ken" Rice and Margaret "Peggie"Cojocar.
Survivors include:
His loving wife – Holly Harvey Rice of Columbia
Two brothers – Richard "Rick" Rice (Angie Greenwell) and Joseph "Joe" Rice (Ashley)
His step-mother – Sharon Rice
His brother-in-law – James Harvey (Jill) of Columbia
Two nieces and two nephews – Amy Rice, Morgan Sandusky (Kyle), Ben Rice (Julia) and Dustin Harvey (Laura)
Two great-nieces and one great-nephew – Vera Rice, Layla Harvey and Rush Sandusky
Several other relatives and friends
Shane was a man of few words and a man of great honesty and integrity. He enjoyed a quiet farm life and was an avid pilot and UK basketball fan. His life was spent caring for others as a physician in hospital emergency rooms, devoting several years to Russell County Hospital. He claimed to be an expert at removing fish hooks from all parts of the human body.
Shane was predeceased by his best buddy, Raylan, a chocolate lab, who he affectionately called "Ray".
Shane requested Cremation and the family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date
In lieu flowers, donations to Jamestown Christian Church, 65 S. Main St., Jamestown, KY 42629 would be appreciated
