David Earl Rinker, 66, of Noblesville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2024, at his cherished lakehouse in Macy, Indiana. Born on September 11, 1958, in Anderson, Indiana, David spent his life in Central Indiana, living in Anderson, Indianapolis, and Noblesville.
A proud graduate of Madison Heights High School, Class of 1976, David attended Ball State University before embarking on a career in the resteraunt business. He retired from ConAgra Foods in Indianapolis.
David shared 42 years of marriage with his loving wife, Terri (Stanford) Rinker. Their relationship was filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. David's friendships were equally enduring, with some lasting more than five decades.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert E. Rinker and Joyce G. Rinker, and his brother, Paul B. Rinker. David is survived by his sister, Judith Hoskins of Anderson; his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, who adored his playful jokes and thoughtful nature.
David had a sharp mind, a quick wit, and a deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures. He was a lifelong fisherman, an avid nature lover, and a passionate gardener. He planted trees by the dozens at every home he lived in, and when he ran out of space, he gave trees to friends and family so they could continue his legacy.
David loved music and sports, attending hundreds of concerts and games. A devoted fan of the Colts, the Reds, and Indiana's college teams, he shared his enthusiasm with anyone willing to join him. He was also a bargain hunter, delighting in impressive grocery savings and often recounting his triumphs with great humor-like the time he proudly brought home black bean sauce because the store paid him a nickel to take it.
David's kindness often revealed itself in quiet, thoughtful ways. He remembered the little things-your favorite snack or drink-and made sure to have them on hand when you visited. If you admired something he had, he'd find a way to gift it to you. He arranged a family reunion when his mother was battling cancer, ensuring she could be surrounded by loved ones. Ever observant, he sought creative ways to make life easier for those around him, especially his mother-in-law. He recorded movies he thought she'd enjoy and delighted in making her visits special.
David also had a great sense of adventure and a love for laughter. He cherished life's surprises and wasn't afraid to try something crazy if it promised a good story later. His laugh-so easy and genuine-filled the room and brought joy to all who heard it.
David loved animals deeply, especially his cats, who were his quiet companions. He supported causes close to his heart, including nature conservation and animal welfare.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the Fellowship Building at Main Street Church of God in Anderson, Indiana, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to come and go during this time, with a eulogy and prayer in David's honor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or the Animal Protection League, where David's beloved Lacy, found her forever home.
David will be remembered for his humor, intelligence, creativity, and generosity. He filled his days with love, laughter, and an unending curiosity about the world. He will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. www.loosecares.com
