David Allen Risler, age 68, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the American Lutheran Community of Mondovi with his family by his side
He was born on June 17, 1955 in Mondovi, the son of the late Andrew and Marion (Bauer) Risler.
David attended Mondovi Schools, graduating from Mondovi High School with the class of 1973.
On September 27, 1975, David was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Janelle Hoch at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi. To this union, they lovingly raised 5 precious children.
David began a career at Durand Cooperative, where he was the manager of the seed department. Following his time at Durand Co-op, David worked for a brief time at Brunner Seed in Durand. He and his wife then moved to St. James, MN in June of 1991 where he accepted a position as a field Rep with Cenex Land O Lakes. After 4 years in St. James, David and his wife returned to their hometown of Mondovi, still working with Cenex Land O Lakes. Following his career in the agricultural seed industry, David started working as an agricultural machinery salesperson at Value Implement in Durand.
David was an avid outdoorsman, evident in his passion for deer hunting, fishing, taking his family on hay rides, four-wheeling and camping. If he wasn’t enjoying all the amenities that nature could provide, you would often see him playing cards or watching Rocky and Rambo movies.
David will be long remembered for his deep devotion and love for his family…always supportive and always there for them all. One of David’s greatest joys in his life was the day he became a grandpa, but in the eyes of his grandchildren, He will always and forever be their Papa.
David will be sadly missed by his wife of almost 48 years, Janelle; children, Amy (Jeffrey) Hall of Council Bluffs, IA, Elly (Jeffrey) Tiegs of Mondovi, Izzie (Josh) Isaacson of Mondovi, Emily Constantine of Eau Claire and A.J. (Emily Krause) Risler; grandchildren, Duncan Hall, Bella Tiegs, Macy Tiegs, Grady Tiegs, Hayes Tiegs, Aiden Isaacson, Addison Isaacson, Elsie Isaacson and Braelynn Dregney-Risler; sisters, Carol (Raymond) Brantner, Cindy (Charles) Hardy, JoAnne (Jody) Davis and Donna (Jamie) Davis; brothers, Ed (Linda) Risler, Ray Risler and Roger (Carol) Risler; brother in law, Dennis Fedie; also by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A prayer and scripture service is planned for Friday, May 31, 2024 at 6:00 PM at the Talbot Family Funeral Home, Mondovi Chapel with a gathering for family and friends from 4:00 PM until the hour of the service. Inurnment and committal services will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Rock Falls. A celebration of life for David will be held at Buzz's from 12-2 on Saturday June 1.
