David Joseph Rogers
Age 35, of New Lenox, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at Silver Cross Hospital, New Lenox, IL. Dave was born in Maywood, IL to Joseph and Jacquelyn (nee Bond) Rogers. Loving son of Joe and Jackie; dear brother of Joe Jr. (Sarah) Rogers; cherished uncle of Jack and Sadie Rogers; loved nephew and cousin of many; also survived by his best friend and fishing buddy Jon Leavitt; and his special canine companion Lily.
Dave loved to work, it was in his DNA. Even when he was a little boy he would visit his brother over the summers to work construction right along side him. He had many jobs over the years, from selling Christmas trees to climbing cell towers to driving trucks. He excelled at them all and took great pride in his work. He was exceptionally proud to be shop foreman at S&J Construction where the people he worked with quickly became family.
He enjoyed many hobbies over the years most significantly racing motocross, cooking and fishing. His infectious enthusiasm for these hobbies made it so those around him were eager to share them, whether it be family lunches at the racetrack between motos, teaching his older brother to jump a dirt bike (while Dave had a broken leg), sharing perfectly grilled steaks from the flat top, chasing Muskies in Wisconsin/Indiana, flipping crappie in Shelbyville, or trolling for salmon on Lake Michigan. Doing these things gave him the most happiness while being surrounded by people he loved and who loved him.
Dave was always looking to help someone out. He often went out of his way to make sure that those around him were content while looking for ways to make their day a little better. He was loved by all those who knew him and will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox, IL on Monday, December 19, 2022, from 3pm – 8pm. Funeral Services will be on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, with prayers at the funeral home at 9:15am to St. Mary Catholic Church, Mokena, IL for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am.
