David Rowland of Durant, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at the age of 77. He was born on Thursday, October 16, 1947 in Durant, Oklahoma to Ina Fay (Campbell) and Louis Edgar Rowland.

He was a longtime resident of Durant, Oklahoma, and lived near Kenefic for nearly 30 years. For a short time he resided in McAlester and Caddo, Oklahoma. He met his soon-to-be wife Wanda (Higgins) at the Lake Texoma Lodge swimming pool, and they married on July 15, 1966 in Durant, Oklahoma.

David loved hunting season and particularly liked to hunt in McAlester, Oklahoma. He also loved fishing and was overall an outdoorsman. When he lived near Kenefic, Oklahoma, he had his own little slice of Blue River that he loved to be on. He also worked as a high school teacher, and he enjoyed it. The kids that he taught did well in his class and the students respected him. He would even take his students on outdoor activities, and they would even camp and fish. He had a strong desire to help and love his kids and had a gift of knowing how to deal with them. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and was very proud of his 3 children and grandchildren. He was known to be a strict man, but everyone knew it was because he cared.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ina Fay (Campbell) and Louis Edgar Rowland; brothers Jerry Rowland, and Kenneth Rowland.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Wanda (Higgins) Rowland of Durant, Oklahoma; daughters Shari Jane Rowland of Durant, Oklahoma, Audra Lee Werley and husband Virgil of Durant, Oklahoma; son Shawn David Rowland of Honobia, Oklahoma; brother Michael Rowland and wife Marty of Pleasant Hill, Oklahoma; sister Donna Jobe and husband Noble of Eufala, Oklahoma; sisters-in-law Brenda Rowland, Judy Rowland; grandchildren Nathan Rowland, Morgan O'Hern, Ivy Nesbitt, Addison Rowland, Lucas Rowland, Landree Rowland; great grandchildren Kaylee Rowlan-West Fall, Asher Austin; as well as other extended family and friends.
