It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of David B. Rowles, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and dear friend whose presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him.
He passed away peacefully on April 15th, 2024, at the age of 78. He was born on October 11th, 1945, in Bradford, Pennsylvania to his parents Agnes and Eugene Rowles.
David is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Brenda Rowles (Waters), their four children, Jeremy (Kate) Rowles, Chet (Liz) Rowles, Marissa (John) Moss, and Laura (Paul) Thompson. He is also survived by their 16 beautiful grandchildren.
He graduated from Brigham Young University with a dual Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Relations. He went on to receive a Master of Public Administration from UNLV. David began his professional career working as a management analyst in the Clark County Administrator's office. He then spent several years as the Human Resource Director at the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. He re-focused his talents on public service, spending the majority of his career as Director of the Clark County Health Department. He truly loved that job.
Over his lifespan as a member of the Church of Jesus of Christ of Latter Day Saints, David had many callings that allowed him to serve others. Service was a core value in his life. After graduating from high school, he went on a full time mission to the Netherlands for two and a half years. David went on to serve, teach and lead in various capacities throughout the years. One of his favorite callings was as Bishop for the Villa Bonita Ward. He also loved his calling as a High Counselor in the Anthem Stake.
His commitment to family was unwavering, and he instilled in all of us the values of compassion, perseverance and faith. David had the extraordinary ability to make every person he met feel like they were the most important person in the room. He was a great listener and his genuine interest in others made those he knew feel so unique and special.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever be held dear by those who loved him. Although David's absence leaves an irreplaceable emptiness in our hearts, his spirit of empathy and kindness will forever live on. He will be deeply missed.
A funeral service will be held in his honor, where family and friends are invited to come hear the stories to celebrate his life. Please join us at the LDS Church located at 10970 South Bermuda Road (next to Liberty High School) in Henderson, NV on April 27th at 10:00 am.
