Brother Dave you are not forgotten...it seems like yesterday when we all crossed the border into Pakistan with Nick complaining the whole way...those were some crazy times....and thank you my brother for being there during hard times. COL Hardy still talks about you and the the Wild Bunch. I made my last trip downrange in 2013...it brought back good memories of the magnificent 7...it's hard to change the ODA 773 TalibanCowboys...we were unstoppable. We love you brother...please talk with St. Peter...because the last 6 TalibanCowboys are heading your way. Keep the faith Geronimo The Last Man Standing

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Connolly Family know that we recently sent Care Packages to American troops in the war zones. Each box carried a dedication sheet that includes the name, service information and a photo of your loved one. We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals in the youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

To the family of Captain Connolly,
I am a student at Lincoln-Sudbury and I would like to take a a moment to appreciate Capt. Connolly. It is the very least I can do at this point. I think that serving our country is one of the most noble things possible for an American to do. David must have had a great amount of courage and deserves deep respect and gratitude for his service. It is one of my dreams to serve in the military for our country but I do not know whether I will have the courage to do so. David is an inspiration to every American and I am proud to be from a country that is served by courageous individuals like himself.

On this Memorial Day 2008, I found myself drawn to this memorial for CPT David Connolly.
I served with the 1172nd Transportation Terminal Unit in Boston in the early 80s and often ran around the tidal basin in the South End with a Major Jim Connolly from one of our sister units, the 1169th.
I have often wondered if the two were related in some way.
Either way, it matters not. It is enough to let his friends and family know that even long after his passing there are those who will not forget his sacrifice and service to his country.

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….

That you are round about me, I believe”

To the family of an American Hero I am truly greatful for the unselfish sacrifice of Capt Connolly. I lost my nephew Spc T Caughman in June 2004 and know the the price that is being paid each day by people who we love dearly. Our freedom comes with a great price and I am thankful for those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom that is not free. God Bless

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I recently redeloyed from Afghanistan with the 25th Infantry Division. I worked with Dave on many occasions in the early months of 2005. Dave was an outstanding officer and an inspiration. He and his family will always be in my thoughts and prayers. I know I feel blessed for having known him.

I too would like to send my deepest condolences to you. I met Dave in Afghanistan and we spent time together in Bagram and Kandahar; talking about family, Gonzaga and BC basketball and life in general. He was both fun loving and passionate about so many things.
I know I speak for many when I say that Dave was the kind of guy you wanted as a best friend or brother.

I had the pleasure of serving with CPT Connolly in Jacksonville, FL. He was the most charasmatic individual I have met. He was a hard charger and expected no less from all that worked with him. He earned the nickname "CAPTIAN AMERICA", for the way he got things done. I enjoyed working with him and was deeply saddened upon hearing of his death. I know he loved what he did and he did it remarkably well. The Army, the Country, and his family has lost a remarkable soldier. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.

Deb,
I was deeply saddened to hear of the lose of Dave, I served with him in Jacksonville 03. Dave was a great leader, I learned more from Dave in the short time we were deployed together than in the 15 yrs in the reserves. He believed in getting the job done no matter what it takes. He was an inspiration to all who knew him and worked with him, and will be greatly missed. you and your family will be in our thoughts and prayers.
God bless all of you.

My heartfelt sympathies to Deb, Dave's family, and his many friends who are so deeply saddened by this tragic loss. Dave was one of the first two people that I met when I started Suffolk Law School. I had just moved to Boston from California and did not know a single person. Dave was immediately welcoming and we soon discovered that he had lived in Concord just a few miles away from my hometown of Danville. With that simple conversation, many of my fears that came from being in a new place so far from home, disappeared. At another friend's wedding shortly before Dave left to go overseas, I recall a conversation about our troops abroad and Dave's passionate feelings in the pride and support for public service and the U.S. Military. His conviction was truly inspirational. Dave was genuinely a man of honor whose legacy will live on in the many lives he touched. Deb, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Deb, I'm so sorry to hear about Dave. I served with him in Jacksonville during the Feb-Aug 03 tour and learned so much fom him. He was a man who never quit during a mission and demanded nothing less from his NCO's. As I prepare to head out to Iraq in the next few months I will always remember how much dave meant to me and I will try my best to serve the soldiers under me in a way that would make dave proud. God bless you Deb. We will all miss Dave.

There are no words to convey what my heart wants to say. No greater a loss to you, no bigger a sacrifice, no loss more profound to this United States, nor to his brothers in Uniform.
I did not need to know David to know his pride, or your pride in him. He stood firm for his dedication to this country, one beyond most comprehension.
I will speak his name; remember his sacrifice each and every time I hold my hand to my heart and my head bowed in prayer. I will pray for your hurting heart, hoping that you may find peace, yet knowing that it must feel impossible.
This nation has had a great loss, but no loss is greater than yours.
May god bless you and we will keep you in our prayers.

Dear family and friends of Dave Connolly:
Like all of you, I was so saddened and stunned by the news of this terrible loss. A friend from BC, I am one of the many, many people in Dave's orbit - He was such a magnificent and vital connector of people and had a special knack for including everyone and keeping people in touch. I am taking the initiative to express my sisters (Veronika Testa and Fabienne Madsen)and my deepest and heartfelt condolences to the entire family of David Connolly. We were all in shock to hear about what has happened. My sisters and I all knew and went to school with Connolly children. David was in my class while I was attending Newton Catholic Elementary. Needless to say, I was especially taken aback. While I have not seen David in many years, I remember him as possessing such an exuberant spirit. I am not surprised in the least that he had reached the heights that he did in his studies, career and his commitment to defending our Country. His time was most definitely to short and again, your family will remain in our thoughts and our hearts.
