Obituary of David Randolph Sabin
David Randolph Sabin was born on March 22, 1937, in Ironwood, Michigan. David passed away peacefully at his home on March 2, 2023. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sherry, who passed away in March of 2022. They were married for 46 years and were never separated for more than 1 day.
David was the loving, supportive, and inspirational father of 5 children: David B. Sabin, Samara Linn-Sabin Hartman, Cindy (Sabin) Walker, James Radebaugh, and Lisa (Sabin) Reed. He also had an incredible love for his 9 grandchildren: Sophia, Ruby, Miles, Chase, Logan, Dane, Victoria, Griffin, and Gavin.
David grew up an accomplished athlete and excelled academically. After high school, he joined the Army, where he served as an aircraft mechanic. After the Army, he attended Michigan State University and Detroit College of Law, earning a Juris Doctorate degree. Following graduation, David began his law career in Grayling, Michigan, where he met his wife, Sherry, and built a family.
David enjoyed reading, traveling, vacationing to Florida, and spending time on the river. He was an active kayaker, cyclist, and even competed in a triathlon. In 2022, he visited Ireland, went camping, and traveled by train to Washington state. He also enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, and watching Michigan State athletics. David loved spending time with family and was thrilled to host the annual Sabin reunion during the AuSable River Canoe Marathon. David believed in the saying: "May you have love to share, cash to spare, and friends who care."
