Dave was born to Dorothy and Chuck Sanson on August 26, 1957 in Cleveland Ohio. He was baptized a few weeks later in the local Catholic Church in Euclid. Since Chuck's salesman job required relocating often, Dave's childhood years were spent in various states including Cleveland OH, Long Island NY, Charlotte NC, and Raliegh NC.
While growing up, Dave enjoyed the freedom of exploring the heavily wooded areas nearby. He also liked playing several different sports and he appreciated the social time spent with family and friends.
In 1967, Chuck's company transferred him to the main office in Cleveland and the family bought a home in Mentor Ohio, located in the Pinegate subdivision. These were truly great years for Dave as his social skills, sports ability, and good grades showcased his magnetic personality. At this time Dave served as an alter boy and was confirmed at St. Bede the Venerable in Mentor. He also pitched and played infield in the local leagues and made the baseball team in high school. But eventually Dave came to love the sport of golf and switched to playing for the Mentor High golf team for his junior and senior year. As a teen, Dave served on the board for the Pinegate Youth Advisory Club which worked to improve the community through communication with the HOA as well as arranging social events popular with the youth. Dave enjoyed and was good at playing his Aqua-Blue Fender Mustang guitar in a local garage band that included his brother and several other Pinegate youth. His sarcastic sense of humor was fine-tuned and on full display throughout his years in Mentor.
Dave was a student at Ohio State University for 2 years, then he pursued an associates degree from Bell and Howell's Ohio Institute of Technology. During these times, Dave lived in Columbus, Ohio near High Street, on the OSU campus, and worked at the various businesses located there. This is where he met his future wife Debbie. They were eventually married in Cleveland at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in 1980. After moving to Houston Texas, Debbie and Dave had daughter Samantha. She was his pride and joy and raising her was always an honor and a blessing that he cherished deeply.
During Dave's adulthood, his professional career featured his sharp mechanical mind and his leadership skills. Dave worked as a Customer Support Manager for 14 years at Allen Bradley in Houston Texas. After that, he moved to Bay Village Ohio where he bought and ran a machine shop for 10 years employing 8-10 people. Dave then shifted professions, getting his Realtor License selling properties for 14 years. Perhaps Dave's professional career can be summed up by his former boss Ken Smith who wrote," Dave was the heart of our team at Allen Bradley. Dave brought energy, kindness, and laughter wherever he went. His meticulous nature and strong work ethic stood out, making our workplace more organized and enjoyable. Dave was always ready to lend a hand, coordinate events or join in on a game of darts, softball, golf, or pool. His presence brought people together, and his support and humor left a lasting impact. Dave will be deeply missed and fondly remembered." Many will remember Dave from this era as the guy who threw great tailgate parties before every Browns home game.
With sights clearly focused on retirement at age 62, Dave moved to Bochete Panama, a beautiful paradise where he enjoyed perfect weather, spectacular views, and the charming people. When Covid 19 devastated the world, Dave's vision for retirement took a major blow as the pandemic requirements included demanding mobility restrictions and quarantines. Being shut in, like many, Dave found himself going to church watching Christian services and masses on the internet. This was a time of spiritual renewal and reawakening of a relationship with God. After 3 years, Dave was able to leave Panama and move to Bozeman, Montana where he bought a condo and worked part-time. After a while, Dave decided to move to Marietta, Ohio where, as a college student, he had the privilege of working on a farm one summer break. Dave seamlessly blended into the Marietta community by helping several local businesses with a back-breaking rebuild after a devastating flood had hit the area. Dave even has his #33 Browns jersey framed and hanging in a local Marietta Sports Bar where he watched his Browns most every Sunday during football season.
Dave was a generous soul, often giving away possessions, donating time at the homeless shelter, and caring for his Mom which included visits, phone calls, text messages, and substantial financial support.
Dave is survived by his daughter Samantha Sanson, by his Uncle Frank Kokos, Uncle Bob Kokos and wife Patricia, Aunt Mary Ann Kokos, sister Jeriann, brother Jeff and wife Dawn Sanson. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews including Angela Sanson, Chaz Sanson and wife Meg with son Case, Carolyn Scott and husband Josh and their children Vanna and Quincy Scott, Nicholas Sanson and wife Daniella, Stephanie Marsh and husband Jordan and their children Mary Kate, Hadley, Molly, and Hanna Marsh. David is also survived and cherished by his many cousins and friends.
