Monroe “Hank” Henry Briner, a simple and honest man whose quiet strength shaped the lives of all who knew him, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. Born in Montpelier, Ohio, on August 28, 1937, to Monroe and Roberta Briner, he was the oldest of four children and the only son.

Hank grew up working the family farm, where he developed a lifelong respect for the land and the steady rhythm of hard work. He attended The Ohio State University, studying agricultural sciences and animal husbandry, and carried those lessons into every season of his life. From farming to agricultural services to life on the road as a truck driver, Hank’s work took him from northern Ohio to central Ohio, then Michigan, and finally back home again. Wherever he went, he remained grounded in the values of honesty, perseverance, and humility.

Family was the heart of Hank’s world. He lovingly adopted his first two children, Howard and Vicki, giving them a steady, devoted father. A few years later he welcomed a son of his own, Jeff, and delighted in watching the bond between his children grow. Jeff would come to say that Hank gave him the very best big brother in the entire world.

A man of many quiet talents, Hank taught driver’s education, umpired countless softball games, and became a master tomato grower. His comical attempts to capture memories on a disposable camera often brought as much laughter as the pictures themselves. Music was his refuge; he filled his home and church with the upbeat sounds of ragtime, becoming by all accounts the best nine-fingered church pianist in Williams County.

Hank loved his family unconditionally and was deeply proud of each of them. His legacy lives on not only in their hearts, but also in the example he set: a life of steady devotion, gentle humor, and unwavering love.

When family visited him for the last time, a deep red crescent moon hung low on the eastern horizon, as if to carry him heavenward.

Hank is survived by many loving family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Hank's obituary was lovingly written by his family. Krill Funeral Service is honored to serve Hank's family.
