David Saunders Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Albrecht Funeral Homes & Cremation Services - Edgerton on Feb. 23, 2026.
David Alan Saunders, aka the Koshkonong Pirate, age 66, passed away after his battle with Early Onset Alzheimer's at Our House Memory Care.

Dave was born, raised, and lived his entire life in the Edgerton area. From a young age, he showed a strong work ethic-first digging and selling worms as a boy (entrepreneurial… or just very muddy), then working as a farmhand on local farms, and later at the old Standard gas station in Newville. He eventually found his lifelong career in concrete, taking his dad's advice to "stay on the right end of the chute." Whenever someone asked what he did for a living, he proudly said he was a "Cement Head," and honestly, he earned the title.

Over the course of his career, Dave drove and dispatched trucks, patched pipe, made glazed and ground-faced concrete block, and even served as a VP at a couple of companies. He fixed his own cars whenever he could and remodeled two of the homes he lived in-because why hire someone when you can do it yourself, swear a little, and then do it right? A true jack of all trades, master of none. Dave worked incredibly hard, but he always found time to play just as hard.

Dave enjoyed a wide range of hobbies throughout his life: music, dancing, riding his Harley, boating, fishing, hunting, fast cars, yelling at the Packers from his recliner (and they deserved it), joining countless pools, and meeting new people. If he wasn't where he was supposed to be, someone was sure to ask, "Where's Dave?"-and the answer was almost always, "Making his new best friend." He was the life of the party, funny without trying, the author of a few poems (some good, some questionable), and always ready with at least one story.

He would do just about anything for his family and friends if they needed him to and he could make it happen. Dave was a devoted and loving husband of 38 years to Sue, a proud father of three wonderful children, Amanda, Lindsay (Mike) and Seth (Maddie), and a very special Papa to five, Taylor, Jace, Reese, Brooks and Moxon-soon to be six-grandchildren.

He is survived by anyone who can read this and predeceased by those who cannot.

Please join us in remembering and celebrating Dave on Saturday 3/7/2026 from 11am to 3pm, at 1848 Lounge 112 West Fulton St. Edgerton.

11:30 memorial memories to begin for anyone that would like to share. Albrecht Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Edgerton are assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in Dave's name at a later date. www.albrechtfuneralhomes.com

So sorry to hear of Dave´s passing! He definitely was the life of any party we attended! I´ll never forget your trip to "Dayton" and what a great time we had at the race! Big hug coming your way from Scott and I! Wish we could make the memorial but in Florida but we will be thinking of all of the family!

Love Scott and Cindy Harvey
