I was just thinking of Dr. Scherer. I´ve never had a doctor that made me feel more listened to and cared about. There´s a huge hole in the Universe Dr. Scherer once filled. Eternally grateful. Until we meet again.

Dr. Scherer, you were so caring and helped me get my own heart health in check upon the heals of losing my husband, of only 4 yrs. 54 is too young to pass away, he said and began getting tests on myself to make sure I would have a long and healthy life.

I can´t believe it´s been a year. Stan and I both miss you and can´t thank you enough for saving Stan´s life when I was 8 months pregnant with Jack. I will never forget seeing your face when you came to tell me how Stan was doing after the stent surgery. "Stan will now know his son," you said. I was a mess. You were also there for me when I had lost 5 people very close to me in a short period of time and I just knew my heart was breaking. You were sweet, funny and so caring. You made a difference in our lives and so many others. Thank you, Dr. Scherer. God Bless you and your family.

He literally saved my life on August 2nd. 2007 at Baylor Grapevine when he received a call from the ER while on his way home, to come treat a man having a heart attack. He rushed back to the hospital , stented me and later gently but firmly counseled me for 16 years as my Cardiologist and friend. I admired him greatly and forever thankful.

Not just a great and caring doctor but someone you felt like a friend. When I was in the hospital as a patient for another doctor I seen him making his rounds and yelled his name and he came in my room and we talked for around a half hour. He asked me to do him a favor and of course with no hesitation I said yes. He asked me to talk to one of his patients near me that was't doin what he asked him to see if maybe I could get his message thru and I did it and he couldn't thank me enough.I love you Dave I will remember you as the gentleman you always were. Your patient and friend Bob Perretta

I just found out about Dr. Scherers' death as we have moved to Hillsborough NC and I had not received all my mail. He saved my life on August 2nd 2007 when I had a major heart attack while driving near Grapevine. I literally drove myself to the ER and the hospital called Dr. Scherer who had left for home. He turned around and came back to the hospital to stent me. He has been my Cardiologist ever since. I flew back to Dallas in early May to meet with Paula, his PA for my annual checkup as I refused to change Cardiologists . I thought the world of him.

Doc Scherer saved my life not once but twice. Always on a Monday. Words can not describe the sadness I feel for his loved ones. During my last visit, he still asked me if it was okay to use my rare heart condition in his teachings, as I was his first patient with this particular condition.
Rest in peace, doc; I owe my life to you twice.

I just got the letter from Dr. Scherer´s office, re: his passing. What can I add that hasn´t already been said. I was a patient of Dr. Scherer´s for 10+ years, and he was just a rock solid professional and human being! I feel for his family, friends, co-workers, and patients! In life, you need to cherish those who take time to invest in you. Dr. Scherer is one of those people obviously, and will be missed on many levels by lots of people who were lucky enough to have known him. May you rest in peace, Dr. Scherer.

We are very saddened to hear of all our loss of Dr. Scherer. He is one of two different people that separately saved my life. I met him after I was rolled into Baylor Grapevine's ER, with a heart-attack. I had just read the sign on the door that said "Baylor is a non-smoking CAMPUS," and was trying to figure out how difficult it was going to be to get off "campus" dragging an IV pole, in a hospital not-quite-onesie. He walked up with a clipboard, with the carriage of a military fighter-pilot, and said: "Male; over 50; a little overweight; smoker..."
He stopped, looked me right in the eyes and said the only thing I couldn't argue with: "You had to know this was going to happen sooner or later."
That was eight years ago. Thanks to him and those in his office, I haven't had a cigarette since, and am in better cardiac health than i've probably been in several decades. He's one doc who's appointments I don't miss.
Godspeed, doc.

My cardiologist refused to see me due to a couple of missed appointments. I had no other choice, but find another one. That's how I found Dr. Scherer. I'm so glad I missed those appointments cause Dr. Scherer was the best thing that happened to me. His knowledge and expertise took care of my Blood Pressure in a flash. He was very professional and a nice man. My husband and I are shocked and saddened. He will be missed by us.

We are absolutely heartbroken to hear of Dr. Scherer's accident. He helped my husband through many bouts of AFIB. I saw him also for an abnormal EKG. We loved him; he was such a practical dr and cared so much for his patients. He was so very likable and down to earth. He and my husband loved sharing fishing and hunting stories. We will sure miss him. The profession lost a unique, very knowledgeable, and caring cardiologist. Sending prayers for the entire family.

I had the privilege of working with Dr. Scherer and can´t believe he´s gone. He was such a sweet, caring, and incredible teacher. He would make us laugh and enjoy being at work. As a nurse I learned sooo much from him. He was an amazing understanding man that loved his patients and always made the day at work so much better. I will miss him and I know his patients will miss him taking care of them. A wonderful Cardiologist, teacher, father, and friend who has left us too soon. My prayers go out to the family and all who knew Dr. David Scherer.

Dr Dave Scherer was my cardiologist for years. I owe him my life. He was a technical professional but as everyone knows possessed a very caring, warm, compassionate and friendly manner. I only met the man once at my first cardiologist consultation with him. As an endurance athlete he made me feel comfortable and we had very similar sense of humor. He even called me the Saturday before his death to make sure I understood the heart cath procedure I needed to have. I later found out my nephew had worked with him at Baylor and held him in the highest regard. I wish I had met the man earlier because I know we would have been good friends. Prayers to his family and friends, you could just tell how great this man was.

Prayers to the family. May God comfort you all with the memories and love that he created with each of you. As a patient, he will be sorely missed! His bedside manner and friendly/kind spirit all while getting you the information for the most scary thing you have ever gone through was priceless. And the coaching...not to stop doing things which so many doctors focus on but to continue living! His voice will forever be heard telling me not to look at this as an early diagnosis with a quick end but look at it as an early diagnosis to get ahead of what could have been an unrecoverable situation. Although I am not family, he sure did make me feel I was equally as special to him. RIP Dr. S...I got this AFIB/flutter think thanks to you!!!

Dr. Scherer saved my life in 2005. We had a patient relationship for 18 yrs. During this long relationship we became friends. We lived in the same community of Lantana and would run into occasionally and always stopped for a moment to say hello and remind me of my last echocardiogram results. He was the gold standard that I rank all other physicians by. We always enjoyed a pleasant catch up conversation before an exam and I would always thank him for saving my life. How I wish I could have saved his. I´m still heart broken that he was taken from us far too soon. All my sympathy and prayers go to the entire Scherer family. Dr. Scherer was one the finest people on this earth. I can´t describe how much i will miss this talented man. He was a great man and I will always remember him. We will meet again. May the Lord watch over him in Heaven and his family here on earth. Rest In Peace my good friend.

Dr. Scherer wasn´t just our cardiologist for 17 years, he was like family. When I was 8 months pregnant with our 4th son, my husband went in to see Dr. Scherer on a Tuesday and he said, "I´ll see you at the hospital on Thursday." He saved my husband´s life. I remember him coming in to talk to me after the surgery and telling me that we were lucky and that my husband would now be here for his son.
Dr. Scherer was a loving and compassionate person, who spent time with his patients. He didn´t
just come in, check you and leave.
I just knew I had a true "broken heart" about a year ago after losing several people very close to me. Dr. Scherer ran all of the tests, checked everything and then sat done with me. He let me know that my actual heart itself was great, but that he understood how I was feeling. He always knew how to make you feel better. Our family, like so many others, were touched by not only the incredible doctor Dr. Scherer was, but the incredible human being. We are praying for his family, friends and all who knew and loved him. Dr. Scherer will be missed.
