David John Schmitz, age 67 passed away on May 21, 2025 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Dave was the middle child of the late Bill and Rose (Maiorino) Schmitz. He was raised and lived in Newport until his marriage to Monica Stewart in 1993. He is survived by Monica, his son Joseph and daughter Julia Schmitz-Reid (Kameron). Also, his siblings Barb (Tim) Rawe, Don (Sherri), Sue (late Charlie) Mills, and Steve (Kathy). He was known affectionately to his 2 nieces, 5 great nieces, 7 nephews, and 11 great nephews as "Uncle Bubba".

Dave was a printer by trade but in his spare time enjoyed carpentry work by making tables and many other items for family members. He also was a Classic Rock Enthusiast and could name any tune.

He was always on call to help anyone who needed his expertise, he was very talented in the fix-it trade. The only payment he would take was a steak, a cold beer, and time reminiscing about the good old days. He loved talking college football and basketball. GO IRISH!

Memorial Donations can be made to: Diocese of Covington Catholic Charities (Below) or Diocese of Covington  ACUE 1125 Madison avenue, Covington, KY 41011-1589

We know all of his loved ones that have passed will welcome him with warm hugs for a life well lived. We will miss him dearly but know that his suffering is over. Save a place for us, "Davy Deer"!
