David J. Schroeder, a devoted husband, father, teacher, and friend, passed away peacefully September 12th, 2025 surrounded by his family. Dave was born March 13th 1957, to Ray and Lois Schroeder, Dave lived a life defined by curiosity, enthusiasm, and faith. He dedicated his career to teaching, inspiring countless students with not only knowledge but also encouragement and joy. His passion for learning extended far beyond the classroom, as he pursued many eclectic hobbies that reflected his wide-ranging interests and zest for life. Dave found great joy in the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or simply appreciating the beauty of creation. Above all, he cherished time with his family. His unwavering faith guided him throughout his life, offering strength, hope, and peace to both him and those around him. He will be remembered for his warm spirit, sometimes obnoxious sense of humor, his enthusiasm for teaching and the love for life he shared so freely. Dave is survived by his wife Marlene Schroeder, sons Jeff (Samantha) Schroeder and Chris (Courtney) Schroeder, mother Lois Schroeder, sisters Carol (Rannie) Goering, Kay (Greg) Heikes as well as his five grandchildren Avery, Camden, Sadie, Weston and Paige. He was preceded in death by his father Ray Schroeder. A viewing will be held Sunday September 14th, 2pm to 4pm at Buhler Mennonite Church, 220 W. Avenue B. Buhler, KS 67522. His funeral service will be also be held at Buhler Mennonite Church, on Monday September 15th at 10:30 am with graveside to follow at Buhler Municipal Cemetery. One of Dave's final requests was that any person in attendance at the funeral, if willing, would wear a Hawaiian shirt. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Buhler Mennonite Church, Harry Hynes Hospice or The Reno County Food Bank in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
