David Ewald Sell, 83, of Augusta, passed away at his home in Augusta early Tuesday morning, May 14th, 2024.
Dave was born October 14, 1940, to Ewald and Loretta (Erdman) Sell. He was raised with his four siblings on the family farm in Lincoln township, rural Augusta. Dave was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Augusta. He graduated from Augusta High School, class of 1958.
Dave was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Hoff on January 24, 1959. After living in Kenosha and working at American Motors for several years the couple returned to the Augusta area to the family farm. Dave enjoyed farming and maintained an interest in agriculture throughout his life by watching RFD TV. Dave and Betty went on many adventures together, including several cruises and road trips throughout the US. Music has always played a big part in his life. Jimmy Buffet concerts were one of his favorites. Johnny Cash, Waylon & Willie, and all the good old country singers were always on the radio. Dave was a wonderful dancer and he and Betty perfected their polkas and waltz's by attending Polka Fests around the Midwest.
In 1985 Dave and Betty moved to the Sarasota area of Florida, then to Titusville, FL, where they worked together as property managers. Dave was able to fix anything, sometimes with duct tape, and met many friends during his career and had a gift for getting along with all people. While in Florida he was always ready to welcome his Wisconsin family and friends with a cold beer, beaches, boating, and saltwater fishing.
Dave retired and the couple returned to Augusta in 2020. He enjoyed woodworking, maintaining his lawn, and cheering for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers even through the kidding he got from Packer fans. He was very proud of his family and enjoyed keeping up with his 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Dave will be dearly missed by his wife of 65 years, Betty, and his children: Deborah Conrad, (Doug), of Bloomer; David Jr. (Sue) of Sarasota, FL; Diane Schultz of Venice, FL; Barbara Schultz, of Augusta; Brenda (John) Nacke of Bloomer; William (Debra) Sell of Big Rapids, MI; grandchildren, Amy Sell of Waterford, ME; Chad (Stephanie) Bauch of Aiken, SC; Heidi (Paul) Goodman of Bozeman, MT; Jason (Sara) Bauch of Mount Dora, FL; Laura Sell of Sarasota, FL; Amanda (Tony) Fanetti of Bloomer; Daniel (Jessica) Black of Bloomer; Jeremy (Emily) Black of Eau Claire; Kevin Black of Kenosha, WI; Jackie (Jonathan) Kumar of New York, NY; Michael Schultz of Seattle, WA; Brady Bertrang of Augusta, WI; Liam and Logan Sell of Big Rapids, MI; great-grandchildren: Kaylee Krueger, Joshua Bresina, Makayla, Aubrey, Chevi Bauch, Emma Goodman, Isaac, Ben and Maya Armstrong, Theo Fanetti, Avery, Adalyn, Miles, and Corinne Black, and Noa Kumar; brother, Dayle (Kristine) Sell of Augusta, two sisters, Shirley (Donald) Volbrecht of Eagan, MN; Shelby Frei of Tomah; sisters in law, Annetta (Bill) Hultman of Menominee, MI; Judy (Ted) Ries of Augusta.
