David A. Shoultz

David A. Shoultz, 78, a lifetime resident of Lapeer, passed away on November 9, 2024. He was born in Lapeer on April 12, 1946, to (the late) Edwin and Angeline Shoultz. David attended Lapeer High School, class of 1964. He enlisted in the United States Army and loyally served his country for 5 years during the Vietnam War. David was a proud member of Lapeer Masonic Lodge #54, Lapeer Area Shrine Club, and Elf Khurafeh Shriners in Clio. He had a passion for making children of all ages smile and laugh. He loved his participation in the Shrine Circus where he was known as Fred-dee the clown.He was proud of his service to the community and with himself for his 44 year commitment to Alcoholics Anonymous. David was a building attendant at the Oakdale State Home for many years until it was closed, followed by 5 years of employment at the Caro Center. He enjoyed attending car shows with his '57 Chevy and was an avid hunter and fisherman. David was a kindhearted gentle man and will be deeply missed.
David is survived by his wife of 36 years, Verna Shoultz; daughters Monica Buhl and Stephanie Shoultz; step-daughter Lori Grossbauer; step-son James (Cindy) Grossbauer; grandchildren Joshua Shoultz, David Heidger, Heaven Fansler, Darian (Garet) Fansler, Dominic Taylor, Kaia Taylor, Justin Mathews, Alison Cain, Dr. Anne (Adam) O'Connor and Matthew Grossbauer; great-granddaughter Emma Mathews; brothers Donald (Janice) Shoultz and Douglas (Debbie) Shoultz; sister Susan Shoultz; also many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Arrangements for cremation have been entrusted to Lynch & Sons Funeral Directors - Capstick Chapel in Lapeer. Military honors will be performed on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI.
