David Simonton
10/10/1942 - 02/26/2025
David Allen Simonton, 82, of Katy, Texas, passed away peacefully at Houston Methodist West Hospital on February 26, 2025.
David was born on October 10, 1942, in Temple, Texas and was preceded in death by his wife Neva Joan Dilbeck Simonton; his son, Garry Neal Simonton; and his parents, E C Simonton and Jessie LaVerne Allen Simonton. He was survived by his son, Douglas Wade Simonton and wife Dee Anne Simonton; his daughter, Karen Lynn Simonton; 6 grandsons and their families; and his siblings, Stanley Simonton, Mark (Corky) Simonton, Marion (Sissy) Campbell and Norma Jean Hofstetter.
David graduated from Jesse H. Jones High School, Houston, TX, in 1963. He served honorably in the United States Army from 1965 to 1967 as an artillery specialist stationed at Camp Knox, near the Korean Demilitarized Zone, where he was commended for his leadership as Fire Direction Center Chief.
David worked several different service and factory jobs and then for his father's swimming pool company. David started his own solo pool service business in the 1980s which he ran successfully until the day he died.
David was always there for his family with steady guidance and keen observations. He coached several sports teams for all three of his kids and never missed a game. David was generous and gave to many charities.
All his life, David enjoyed interacting with people everywhere. His motto was, "If it isn't fun, I'm not going." David loved playing softball and playing with his dogs.
David will be sorely missed.
A private family service will be held.
