David Benjamin Skellenger Huguenot, NY
Mr. David Benjamin Skellenger of Huguenot, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Delaware Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was 71 years old. David was born on March 1, 1954, in Newton, NJ, the son of the late Lawrence Skellenger and the late Shirley VanRiper Skellenger. One of five children, he was raised on the family farm in the Westtown/Unionville area, where he learned the enduring values of hard work and dedication that would guide him throughout his life. On May 23, 1976, David married the love of his life, Bess Price, in Otisville, NY. Together, they shared nearly 49 years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family. David was a proud and loving husband, father, brother, and "Pop Pop," who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. David worked for many years as a Group Leader at C&D Battery in Huguenot, NY. He later continued his career and retired from the Delaware Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he was known for his compassion and dedication to those in his care. A proud member of the Mt. Hope Seniors, he also enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia, caring for his immaculate yard, and spending time with family-especially watching Superman with his brother, Lester. Generous to a fault, David had a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He is survived by his devoted wife, Bess Skellenger; his daughter, Julie Mae Skellenger and her husband, Richard Belcher; his siblings, Linda Randolph, Lawrence Skellenger, Jr. and his wife Jacqueline, Lester Skellenger, and Claude Skellenger; Half brothers, Nicholas and Mitchell Skellenger and his cherished grandchildren, Emily Taylor Smith and Peter James Smith; his son-in-law, George Smith. He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Amy Jo Smith. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery, 13 Mount Hope Road, Otisville, NY, with Pastor Amy Garrett officiating. There will be no visitation. In memory of David, memorial contributions may be made to Pike County Developmental Center, 107 W. Ann St., Milford, PA 18337. Funeral arrangements are by the Gray-Parker Funeral Home, 100 E.
