David Timothy Slater (Tim Slater), age 65 of New London, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024 after a long battle with COPD. He was born January 31, 1959 in Indiana, PA. At 5 years old he moved to Ohio with his family, where he attended North Ridgeville High School. Tim would marry the love of his life Marilyn (Stanley) on December 6, 1976. They were married for almost 48 years. They permanently settled in New London, OH in 1993.
Tim held a variety of occupations through his lifetime; he most recently was an owner/ operator truck driver. He also was a mechanic and had his own shop in New London, OH. Tim's favorite job was ROCK AND ROLL; He started playing the drums out professionally at the young age of twelve! His most known band was UNCHAINED. He was in many other bands over the years including Toys in the Attic, TAG'R, Renegade, That Sound, Southern Jam and Trina's Toys just to name a few. Many of Tim's family members have followed in his footsteps and are also musicians. Tim loved his Harley Davidson and the many Hot Rod cars he had over the years.
The most important thing to Tim was his family. He always looked forward to time with his family. Tim was loved dearly by many, especially his wife Marilyn and their children Angel Keane ("Otis" Craig Jeffrey) and Tim Slater (Kelli Wallen). Tim's grandchildren were his pride and joy and they treasured time with their Papa; Mariah Slater (Drew), Sara Keane (Anthony), Molly Keane, Anna Keane, Jaxson Slater, Jameson Slater, Maliyah Berry and Peyton Pocock. Tim looked forward to his first great granddaughter (Mila) arriving soon. He has many nieces and nephews that will miss him very much.
Tim was preceded in death on July 4, 1978 by his son David Timothy Slater Jr; his mother Mildred (Deyarmin) Slater Smith; father John Slater and step Father Al Smith, along with his brothers, Tom and Bud Slater.
In accordance with Tim and Marilyn's wishes, no services will be held. There will be a Celebration of Life at the end of January- info will be shared with friends and family as plans are made.
For Tim.......If the sun refused to shine I'd still be loving you. If the mountains crumbled to the sea there would still be you and me....Thank You for loving us and always being there. Love, Your family.
