David Perley Smith III

David Smith, III, of Salisbury, MD, passed away on April 5, 2024, after a two-year bout with cancer, he was 66. David, who was born in Augusta, GA, but grew up in the Seaford, DE area, was a 1976 graduate of Seaford High School.
After a couple of years of college at Salisbury University, David began working in retail sales, for Peebles Department Stores in various areas. His retail work continued as a buyer for Ralph& Gaskill, Phillips Mens Shops, Style Guide and Carltons. His later years he worked outside sales for Orkin, before retiring in 2020. David also had a side business as a DJ, known as The Karaoke Kid. For over thirty years, David played at many affairs, including weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and local fire halls. David also penned three well-selling novels, and traveled around the country in his Motorhome, signing and promoting his books.
David, a devoted follower of his Savior, Jesus Christ, is survived by his college sweetheart, Pamela (Williams), a daughter, Casey Mumford and her fiancé Jason Chesnutt, three grandchildren, Tahli, Gavin, and Hadli. David is also survived by a brother, Martin Smith and his wife Michelle, of Georgetown, DE, a sister, Cynthia Long of Cape Cod, MA, and several nieces and nephews. His parents, David and Mildred, along with two brothers, Timothy and Steven, are deceased.
After cremation, at his request, David's ashes will be spread in the Atlantic Ocean, in a private family service.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a donation to Emmanuel Wesleyan Church – Adopt-A-Block Foundation or to Santa's Angels in Salisbury.
A public service in memory of David's life will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at Holloway Funeral Home, in Salisbury, MD at 10:00 AM. Guests are invited to gather for a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM.
