David O. Smith "Moe" 67, a longtime resident of Miami, Oklahoma passed away peacefully at home on December 9, 2024. Moe was born on November 28, 1957, in Miami, Oklahoma, to John O. and Glenna Jean Hale Smith. He graduated from Miami High School Class of 1976. The Monday after he graduated, he went to work for the city of Miami. He worked there until he retired in 2013. On December 31, 1999, he married Cheri Gaylor in Miami, Oklahoma. Moe never met a stranger and always had a story to tell. He enjoyed riding jet skis, dirt bikes, motorcycles, playing softball, coaching, and watching sports. He enjoyed many vacations and traveling with his family. He loved cooking and trying out new recipes. Moe is proceeded in passing by his parents, John and Jeannie Smith, his grandparents, Glenn and Earnestine Hale, Jess and Wealtha Smith, as well as father-in-law, David Gaylor, and mother-in-law, Sandi Smith,.
Those left to share his memory is his wife, Cheri Smith of Miami, Oklahoma, his brother Mark Smith and wife Vicki of Miami, Oklahoma, his sister, Melissa Arnall and husband Ricky of Baxter Springs, Kansas, his sister-in-law, Brandi Lein and husband Dylan of Miami, Oklahoma, his nephews and nieces Beau Gaylor and Amber, Austin Arnall and Aubrey, Alex Arnall and Olivia, Sara Bacon and husband Curtis, Dezirae Maxson and Kyle, Shelby Maxson and great nephew and niece Maddox Gaylor and A'liyah Hawkins and many other family and friends.
Services for Mr. Smith have been placed in the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami. Per Moe's wishes there will be a private family grave side scheduled at a later date.
