Shawna Lynn Bowen, 54, a resident of Miami, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. She was born in Miami on May 14, 1971, to Sandy Stephenson and Lynn Bowen. Shawna graduated with the Miami High School Class of 1990. She worked at Orizon in Chanute, Kansas as an office administrator. Shawna always had a smile on her face and a joke to tell. She loved her mother and was an amazing "Gammy" herself. She always enjoyed family get-togethers and being with her family and friends. She was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. Shawna was preceded in passing by her grandparents Wayne and Joyce Bradley and Linda and Al Hedstrand along with her grandchildren Tyson Ferder and Ember Ferder.
Surviving family members are her parents Sandy and Gary Stephenson, Gail and Kenny McKinzie and Lynn and Robin Bowen, her children Kasha Ferder and her husband Tylor of Fairland, Zach Chandler and his wife Cesilie of Chanute and Megan Chancellor of Fairland, her brothers and sisters Kenny McKinzie and his wife Shannon of Afton, and Kim McKinzie of Miami, Rodney Bowen and his wife Natalie of Coweta, O. Jay Bowen and his wife Sarah of Afton, and Jackie Brown and her husband Jeff of Miami. Her grandchildren Arijah Chandler, Hadlee Hale, Henleigh Hale, Brody Chandler, Melody Ferder, Journey Rose Gilliam, Emily Cavendar and Alessandra Cavendar also survive.
Shawna's visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland.
Services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at First Christian Church in Fairland, with Minister Gary Radtke officiating.
