Halifax, North Carolina
Mr. David Lewis Smith, 59, of Halifax, North Carolina, passed away on June 9, 2025, at ECU Health in Greenville, North Carolina.
Life began for David Lewis Smith on December 2, 1965, when he was born to his parents, the late Joseph Thomas Smith and Mary Ann Smith, in Brooklyn, New York.
David received his formal education in the New York City Public Schools System and after finishing his schooling, he relocated back to his parents' hometown of Halifax, North Carolina.
David persevered by faith and strength through many overwhelming trials and tribulations throughout his life. He was known for his outstanding work ethic and sincerity, which led to him being known to friends and family as the one and only "Sincere."
Though David's time with us here was cut short, the impact he made will last forever. He will be greatly missed by the family and friends who had the privilege of knowing him throughout his 59 years on this earth.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Mary Smith and also his grandparents, Cherry and William Smith and Grady and Elizabeth Ransom.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his two beautiful daughters: Tamicka Payne of Brooklyn, NY and J'Kayla Smith of North Carolina; his two grandchildren: Madison and Benjamin; two sisters: Teresa (Simuel) of Brooklyn, NY and Sabrina A. Smith of Brooklyn, NY; one brother: Joseph J. Smith of Brooklyn, NY; his special aunt: Carol Boone of North Carolina; and two cousins who were like brothers to him: Corey Boone and Donnie Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
