Mr. Mahkhi Khilil Bynum, 24, of Enfield, North Carolina.
On August 22, 2001, Mahkhi Khilil Bynum was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the proud mother, Denise Doris L. Bynum. On August 26, 2025, God sent an angel to take Mahkhi home.
He received his education through MTC Christian School in Weldon, North Carolina.
At the age of 24, Mahkhi touched every life he met with a quiet strength and a big heart. He was a devoted son, a protective brother, and a loving uncle. Mahkhi found his greatest joy in family, the outdoors, and the companionship of animals. Whether laughing with siblings, spending time outside, or sitting quietly with a pet, Mahkhi lived life with loyalty and care. He had a soft heart for helping older adults and people with disabilities. He was very respectful, loved hard, and was a very fearless protector.
Mahkhi will be remembered for his easy smile, his love of open skies, and his kindness that made both people and animals feel safe and loved. His family will carry his memory forward in stories, traditions, and everyday moments.
Mahkhi was preceded in death by his special great-uncle and aunt, Pastor Elton L. Ricks, Sr., and Beverley Ricks.
Those left to cherish his memories forever are his mother: Denise D. Bynum, of the home; his siblings: Alexis D. Bynum of Minnesota, Davon C. and Tito C., both of New York, Destiny M. Bynum-Dent, Derion Bynum-Dent, Khiyelle T., Tatiana Dent, and Taequeana Jones, all of North Carolina; his maternal grandmother: Beverly Bynum of New York; one uncle: James Bynum of New York; one aunt: Tonya Bynum of New York; four nieces: Heavenly Bynum, Mahkhiyea Porta Dent, Khilaya "BabyK" Dent-Clay, and Kintrell J. Khallil Dent, all of North Carolina; five nephews: Tito Bynum, Jr., and Carmelo Bynum of New York, Brooklyn Williams, Kaitlyn Williams, and Kingston Jones, all of North Carolina; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Mr. Bynum will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the chapel of H.D. Pope Funeral Home, located at 520 Smith Church Road, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. Funeral services will follow immediately at 1:00 PM.
