David Alan Socia, age 67, passed away unexpectedly from a sudden illness on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at his residence. The son of the late James J. and Paula I. (Deaton) Socia, Sr., he was born on April 28, 1958 in Bay City. Dave has been a lifelong resident of Bay City and graduated from Bay City Central High School in 1976. While still in high school, he began co-oping at the former Essexville Lumber, and he first started to learn of woodworking. Dave then went to work at Holsinger Manufacturing Corp. where he was a custom cabinet maker for 30 years, retiring only five years ago. He truly enjoyed his retirement, spending time with his family, cooking and smoking food, taking care of his property and gardening. An avid outdoorsman his whole life, Dave loved hunting and fishing, especially ice fishing. He enjoyed going out to sample craft beers and will be missed by his many friends at Tri-City Brewing and Barney's Bar. Dave was kind and generous and was always available to lend a helping hand. He cherished family events and absolutely loved spending time with his grandbabies.

On January 21, 1983 Dave was united in marriage to the former Toni J. Spencer and she survives his passing along with their two children, David C. Socia and Teagan (Jeff) Nelson; his three dear grandchildren, Everett, Eloise and Stella; his brother and two sisters, James J. (Kathi) Socia, Jr., Sherri (Randy) Willard and Shelli (Rob) Anquetil; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tracy Jones, Tammy (Mark) Gwizdala, Joe (Rick Windt) Spencer and Jon Spencer; the family cat, Remi; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, Dave was also preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Joseph and Carole Spencer.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2025 at Trahan Funeral Chapel. Officiating will be Mr. EJ Brown with interment following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The family suggests donations in Dave's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
